Duties and Responsibilities


Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

  • Be responsible for accurate and timely maintenance/verification of customer’s and Correspondent’s Lines for LC and LGs and to ensure that all transactions are processed within the allocated limit and obtain appropriate approval for excess if any.
  • Check all LC applications for clarity, completeness, and conformity with the International Code of Uniform Customs and Practices for Documentary credit.
  • Check all Import and Export documents, handle SWIFT message handling discrepancies, place a reserve, request for refund of the amount paid, and claim interest etc.
  • Keep abreast of developments and changes in Import Regulations, UUCP, and other legal aspects.
  • To prepare financial vouchers relating to  Documentary Credits, Guarantees, Loan and other similar transactions based on the approved documents, secure approvals and data entry in Intellect. Prepare LC and LG instruments, either on hard copy or through Swiand ft, and handle the documents relating to these transactions.
  • Prepare and monitor all letters Letter of guarantee.
  • To handle bills on collection both inward and outward, prepare necessary vouchers, advice to customers, prepare settlement instructions and keep proper follow-up.
  • Maintain all necessary registers of the transactions entered into like LC Opened, LGs opened, Bills Received on Collection, and Sent on Collection and their negotiation and realizations.
  • Diarize maturities for acceptance Bills, prepare necessary communication to Negotiating Ban,k, and settle the bills at maturity.
  • To give orientation and specific on-the-job training and guidance to Juniors / New staff
  • Assist in specifying the detailed requirements for the enhancement of the existing Intellect system and or new Trade Finance system.
  • Verify and reconcile all outstanding items of TFD.
  • To comply with all Internal Control Requirements as detailed in the check checklist maintain a proper record of the exceptions.
  • Prepare periodic MIS related to TFD and the periodic returns to CBK and HO
  • To verify the various reports of the section and to ensure that all entries are correct and are according to the tariff and procedure.
  • Attend and handle all customer queries and correspondence and ensure to provide outstanding customer service at all times.
  • Any other activities, not specifically detailed but related to banking transactions, against approved documents.;
