University of Cape Coast hiring Deputy Director of Finance

The University of Cape Coast invites applications from qualified and competent professionals to fill the vacant position of Deputy Director of Finance.



Duties/Responsibilities


The Deputy Director of Finance shall be responsible for:

  • assisting the Director of Finance in the performance of his/her duties
  • supervising the preparation of the Central Administration Annual Operational Budget
  • supervising the preparation of University Annual Operational Consolidated Budgets
  • monitoring of Central Administration Operational Budgets by issuing timely management reports to spending officers
  • supervising and certifying the preparation of Central Administration Cash Books and Bank Reconciliation Statements
  • preparation of the University’s Annual Government Budget
  • preparation of Monthly Payroll Returns to National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE)
  • supervising the preparation of monthly returns on revenue expenditure incurred out of Internally Generated Fund to NCTE, Ministry of Education (MoE), and Ministry of Finance & Economic Planning (MEP)
  • liaising with officials of NCTE, MoE, MoFEP, and the Controller and Accountant General’s Department on issues of release of government subvention
  • supervising the preparation of the University’s Statutory Accounts, (Consolidated Financial Statements)
  • liaising with external auditors in the conduct of the statutory audit
  • preparation of Management’s responses to external auditors’ findings


Qualification Required & Experience


Candidates seeking appointment to this position must:

  •  possesses a first degree in Accounting/Finance/Auditing
  • possess a Master’s degree in the relevant area
  • be a member of a recognized professional body and in good standing
  • have ten (10) years of relevant post qualification experience or be a serving Deputy Director of Finance or must have served as a Senior Accountant in an analogous institution for at least five (5) years
  • has a minimum of twelve (12) papers (cumulative) in the relevant professional areas. Seven (7) of the papers should have been authored after appointment or promotion to the rank of Senior Accountant
  • show in his/her curriculum vitae impact/achievements in the area of specialization
  • have two (2) assessors’ reports
